Triple therapy is the most common protocol for eradicating H. Pylori. It consists of 3 medications taken together for 14 days.
Triple Therapy Components:
- Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI): Such as Omeprazole or Esomeprazole — reduces stomach acidity creating an unfavorable environment for bacteria.
- First antibiotic: Amoxicillin 1000 mg twice daily.
- Second antibiotic: Clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily.
Quadruple Therapy (Alternative):
Used if triple therapy fails or resistance exists — adds Bismuth subsalicylate and replaces Clarithromycin with Metronidazole.
Tips for Treatment Success:
- Full compliance: Don't miss any dose — stopping causes bacterial resistance.
- Complete the full course: Even if symptoms improve after a few days.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking during treatment.
- Expect side effects: Metallic taste, mild nausea, diarrhea — normal and temporary.
At BEIT TARIQ Center, we select the most appropriate protocol based on your medication history and follow up until confirmed eradication.
