Hyperglycemia (Above 200 mg/dL):
- Severe thirst: Body tries to eliminate sugar through urine — causing dehydration.
- Frequent urination: Especially at night — characteristic sign.
- Fatigue: Cells don't get energy.
- Blurred vision: Sugar pulls fluid from the eye lens.
- Slow wound healing: And frequent infections.
Managing High Sugar:
- Drink plenty of water. Take your medication if missed.
- If above 300: call your doctor.
- If above 400 with nausea: go to ER immediately.
Hypoglycemia (Below 70 mg/dL) — More Dangerous:
- Trembling and cold sweating: First sign.
- Sudden severe hunger.
- Dizziness and poor concentration: "Foggy" feeling.
- Palpitations and anxiety.
- Pale face.
- If untreated: Loss of consciousness and seizures.
Rule of 15-15:
- Consume 15 grams fast sugar: 3-4 glucose tablets, or half cup juice, or tablespoon honey.
- Wait 15 minutes and recheck.
- If still below 70: repeat.
