Yes — re-piercing or piercing a new location is possible. The procedure is the same — simple and safe.
Closed Piercing:
- If partially closed: may be able to gently insert earring after cleaning. Sometimes light pressure is enough.
- If completely closed: needs re-piercing — can be same spot or nearby.
- Earlobe closes faster than ear cartilage.
New Location Piercing:
- Earlobe: can safely have 2-3 piercings.
- Cartilage (Helix, Tragus): possible but slower healing (3-6 months).
- Distance between piercings: at least 8-10mm.
Notes:
- If old piercing was infected or has keloid: wait until fully healed.
- Re-pierce same spot after 2 months of closure.
- Don't try opening it yourself with a needle — infection risk.
At BEIT TARIQ Center, we evaluate the old piercing and decide the best location and method.
