- Anesthesia (30 minutes wait): EMLA cream applied to both earlobes. Covered with transparent film. Wait 30 minutes to work.
- Sterilization (2 minutes): Wipe off EMLA and sterilize with Chlorhexidine. Sterile gloves on.
- Piercing (10 seconds per ear): Sterile medical 18G needle — one swift motion. Insert medical earring immediately.
- Securing and cleaning (2 minutes): Secure earring back. Clean any blood. Confirm symmetry.
- Instructions (5 minutes): Explain care to mother. Give written instructions + cleaning solution.
