Preventing ingrown toenails is very easy by following simple nail cutting and foot care habits.
Nail Cutting Rules:
- Cut straight across: Don't make the edge rounded — leave it level.
- Proper length: Not too short — leave 1-2mm of the white edge.
- Don't dig corners: Leave the nail corner as is.
- Proper clippers: Use straight-edge nail clippers — not scissors.
- After bathing: Nail is softer — easier to cut with less cracking.
Foot Care:
- Comfortable shoes: Wide enough — try them on late in the day when feet are slightly swollen.
- Cotton socks: Absorb sweat — change daily.
- Daily hygiene: Wash between toes and dry thoroughly.
- Moisturizing: Foot moisturizer — but not between toes.
At BEIT TARIQ Center, we teach our patients the proper method and provide nail care services.
