Proper post-circumcision care ensures quick healing and prevents complications. Most children fully recover within 7-10 days.
Care Instructions:
- Vaseline: Apply a thick layer on the glans with every diaper change — prevents adhesion and friction.
- Gauze: Wrap the wound with soft sterile gauze with vaseline — first 48-72 hours.
- Diaper changes: Frequently — don't leave urine and stool on the wound.
- Bathing: After 24 hours — lukewarm water only, no soap on the wound. Pat dry gently.
- Pain relief: Paracetamol (Panadol) per weight — give 30 minutes before bathing.
Normal Findings (Don't Worry):
- Mild swelling for first 3 days.
- Yellow/white color on glans — normal discharge, not pus.
- Small blood spot in the diaper.
See Doctor Immediately If:
- Continuous bleeding soaking the gauze.
- Green pus or foul smell.
- Fever above 38°C.
- No urination for 12 hours.
