Although circumcision is very safe, there are cases where it must be postponed or referred to ensure the child's safety.
Absolute Contraindications (Not Performed):
- Hypospadias: Urethral opening not in normal position — foreskin is needed for later repair surgery.
- Epispadias: Same reason.
- Buried/Concealed Penis: Needs pediatric surgeon evaluation.
Relative Contraindications (Must Postpone):
- Weight below 2.5kg: Or premature — wait until appropriate weight is gained.
- Acute illness: Fever, infection, severe jaundice — treat first.
- Bleeding disorder: Hemophilia, vitamin K deficiency — needs special preparation.
- Blood thinners: Must be stopped before the procedure.
What We Do at BEIT TARIQ:
- Full examination before the procedure.
- Ask about family history of bleeding disorders.
- Confirm vitamin K was given at birth.
At BEIT TARIQ Center, your child's safety comes first — if there's a contraindication, we explain and refer to the specialist.
